About

On The Deep and the Dirty (Released 7/28), Eric Johanson is a roots-rock innovator and modern-day guitar hero who uses blues as a springboard for an edgier, broader sound. The Louisiana native teams up with Producer Jesse Dayton (Rob Zombie, Supersuckers) and a taut power trio, firing twin barrels of sharp songwriting and fiery fretwork along the way. The album (which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Blues Charts) arrives on the heels of four solo records that all reached the Top 10 Billboard. Johanson fills The Deep and the Dirty with revelatory anthems about embracing the modern moment and the raw, honest sounds of a band performing together live. Offering everything from roadhouse roots-rock to dark, bluesy Americana, it's a diverse album glued together by a musician who's never been afraid of the grey area between traditional genres.

An electric whiz with a sweet slide game… A gang of fantastic acoustic and electric leads…His slide work on resonator is particularly noteworthy.”

“One thing is for sure, Eric Johanson isn’t making music for the Top Forty. And I wouldn’t exactly call it Adult Alternative either. It’s definitely rooted in the blues. It’s like he digested all the music of the sixties just like those musicians listened to the progenitors and kept the flame a-burnin’… This guy has a place in the firmament.” - Bob Lefsetz

“Johanson pens solid material that, like Hendrix, displays his guitar prowess but within the borders of melodies and lyrics that push the boundaries of blues/rock. Based on his eclectic style, searing guitar work, and persuasive songwriting he delivers a driving collection well worth choosing.”

“Johanson’s vocal shines throughout. Johanson’s penchant for creating inventive, bluesy riffs really make the album pop.
