About

New Orleans guitarist, singer and songwriter Eric Johanson returns October 16 with The Open Bayou, the first release on his own Levee Ward Records. The album pushes Johanson's blues roots into heavier, more psychedelic territory: fuzz, slide guitar, hypnotic grooves and dreamlike detours. Recorded with his touring power trio lineup, Johanson self-produced the record and worked with Bill Skibbe - known for his critically acclaimed work with Jack White - to craft a sound that is raw, immediate, and unique.

Johanson broke out with his #1 Billboard Blues album The Deep and the Dirty, then followed it last year with his sixth Top 10 charting release, Live In Mississippi, capturing the fire of a stage show that’s been packing rooms across the U.S. and Europe. Named one of Guitar Player Magazine’s “25 Best New Blues Guitarists” and one of the “Greatest Blues Guitarists of All Time” by Total Guitar, Johanson delivers modern blues-rock with grit, power, and raw electricity.
